Microneedling vs. Microdermabrasion

Microneedling vs Microdermabrasion

There are several different similarities rather than differences between Microneedling vs. Microdermabrasion treatments.

What is Micro-needling?

Micro-needling is a treatment where you can reduce fine lines and allows elastin and collagen to be produced by using “micro-injuries” to the skin with tiny, fine needles. It can also improve several issues on the body, for example healing traumatic scars, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, and stretch marks and also improves skin texture, tone and colour. It can be applied to several sections of the body like the face, arms, abdomen, neck, legs, back and décolleté. This treatment creates micro channels on the skin which allows gels, creams and serums to be absorbed in the skin more effectively and allow for it to reach deeper layers of skin tissue.

This results in the skin being fresher and creating a thicker epidermis and a more softer appearance on wrinkles that are presented on the body. Micro-needling is also affordable, effective and safe for all types of skin types and provides a natural result with minimal downtime and discomfort compared to other treatments.

What is the treatment process of microneedling?

Every treatment has a special process that needs to be done. In microneedling, this treatment also has its own special treatment. Initially, when you get to the clinic, an anesthetic cream is applied on the targeted area, then there is a 30-minute wait time so that the cream has taken effect and after that 30 minutes your clinic will provide you with a complete cleanse before the producer is started. Then a sterile 12 mini needle is attached to the micro-needle pen, and the pen is pressed on your skin and goes through the treatment area a few times gently, this process usually takes about 30-40 minutes depending on the treatment area and how large the area is. This treatment might not be painful with the anesthetic cream, however, be sure to expect a sandpaper-like feeling on the skin when the treatment is applied.

Microneedling treatment usually needs about several sessions spaced over 4 weeks for the best results. It can last for about 3-6 months and the skin continues to produce an increased amount of collagen for you.

What is a microdermabrasion treatment?

Microdermabrasion treatment is also a very popular treatment that is known for its effects and even its benefits. It is a treatment that removes the top layer of skin so that it could even out uneven skin tones, brighten dull complexion, and fade out acne scars. This treatment is a procedure that has to be performed by a professional licensed person or a dermatologist. The treatment usually takes about 30 minutes and can be used with other treatments. This treatment is not supposed to hurt and it could take more than one treatment to get the desired look.

There are several different types of microdermabrasion that you could acquire and each of them come with different benefits and treatment plans. However, there are only two major and most important types which are the Diamond microdermabrasion and the crystal microdermabrasion which both exfoliate the skin thoroughly. In the diamond microdermabrasion, everything is the same as the other treatment however, uses a crystal-free diamond-tipped wand to exfoliate. However, crystal microdermabrasion uses a small tube that sends micro-fine crystals shooting from the tube onto your skin and vacuuming it back up causing the top layer of skin to be scraped off like a high-powered scrub.

This treatment can leave your skin looking soft, radiant and smooth after just one session however, with more sessions the skin can continue to improve affecting the skin tone, enlarged pores, wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scars and even sun damage.

How many Microdermabrasion treatments are needed?

There is always a range of treatments that are needed for each procedure to get its full effects. In this treatment, however, there is at least a minimum of 6 to 10 treatments to get the best results possible. These sessions are usually put at least 14 days apart from each other so that the skin could heal and recover for the next treatment. However, this can be decided by your professional technicians at Vanish Clinic who can give you the best results before any special times especially Christmas and the New Year so that you can go into the new year with a new and improved look.

The treatment itself is known to take as short as fifteen minutes to thirty minutes while most spas including Vanish Cosmetics provide this service with facials which can make the patient be on the chair and treatment room for an hour to 90 minutes which includes a full facial massage and masks. The treatment process starts with the technician cleansing your skin to get you ready for your microdermabrasion treatment, after the cleansing they would start the actual microdermabrasion treatment by using the machine to scrap up the top layer of skin. After the treatment, they would cleanse your face again to wipe any of the leftover crystals and put some masks, creams and sunscreen and you are done. It is as simple and relaxing as that.

The side effects and what to expect after the microdermabrasion treatment?

As you all know there are always different things that you have to expect after every treatment. There are some things you should consider after receiving microdermabrasion treatment and they are tenderness, minor bruising or swelling can happen while your skin can also look a little pink for a few hours after the treatment. After a day or more, your face might feel as though you have gotten a minor sunburn but that may have no cause for you to go about your day. After the treatment, it is highly recommended to hold up using tones, medicated cleaners, and acne treatments for a day as it may sting after the procedure. You can, however, use makeup, moisturizers and non-medicated cleansers right after your treatment with no problem at all. Sunscreen is highly recommended as if you don’t put sunscreen it could susceptible to sun damage.

If this treatment isn’t done by someone that is a licensed professional it could lead to scarring which is not something that Vanishes Cosmetic wants for you. In Vanish Cosmetics we provide you with highly recommended licensed professionals that can give the best result, especially during the festive times so that you can start your new year with a new and brighter look.

What is the difference between micro blading and microdermabrasion treatment?

There are several different similarities rather than differences between these two treatments. The first difference is that micro-blading is a single procedure and isn’t used with other treatments like microdermabrasion, which is often given with facials. The second difference is that micro-blading is much more effective and the results stay for much longer. The other main difference is that in micro-blading, the treatment stimulates the body’s wound-healing system which produces collagen. Collagen is known to improve fine lines and wrinkles by soothing them and making them look thinner.

While in the microdermabrasion process, scrubs of a layer of dead and dull skin cells from the skin’s surface with the device which then suctions the skin as the procedure continues to promote circulation. The third difference is that micro-needling can be used on different parts of the body like the face, scalp, hands and body. Microdermabrasion is limited to certain areas like the face and body.

The similarity is that they both need more than one session to get the best results. Both these treatments are known to treat uneven skin tone, wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars, and fine lines. Micro-needling can help treat burn scars, stretch marks, and alopecia. While in microdermabrasion can help with age spots, dull complexions and stretch marks.
