HOW TO TREAT OILY SKIN

How to Treat Oily Skin

There are different skin types that require different approaches when it comes to treating. There are three most common skin types that people may have which is dry, oily, or combination skin. Oily skin can be caused due to an excess amount of oil in which the sebaceous glands make too much sebum. Sebum is vital for keeping the skin healthy but too much of it can caused negative effects such as clogged pores which can result to acne. Factors that may affect an overproduction of sebum may be due to genetics, lifestyle, diet, as well as a poor skincare routine.

The effects of having oily skin can cause a negative impact overtime. Oily skin can promote an increase in oil in which the pores will get clogged, resulting in acne. One of the main reasons as to why someone people may face acne problems is due to having oily skin. This can be treated but must be continuous in order to maintain results. Oily skin may also cause congested skin, which can cause a dull and oily complexion.

In order to help control the overproduction of sebum, causing oily skin, there are numerous ways that can be done to help such as change of lifestyle, diet, improving skincare routine, as well as use of medical grade products. Washing your face often and thoroughly will help to remove excess oil and dirt that may build up and cause acne. It Is recommended to wash your face twice a day; morning and night.

Using proper skincare products may also help to control oil production. Salicylic acid is a great ingredient used in cleansers to help prevent acne and thoroughly wash the face removing any debris. Niacinamide is also used to help not only reduce pore sizing but can also be used to help control oil production. Many people have experienced great results with the use of this ingredient and have had great results with less acne breakouts and overall less oily skin.

Another ingredient that can be used is hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is used to help hydrate the skin and keep the skin barrier moisturized. By keeping the skin moisturized, it allows the skin to have enough moisture in which the skin will not over produce oil to overcompensate the loss of hydration. Glycolic acid is used to help reduce excessive oil and prevent clogged pores, which can result to acne. Retinol can be used to minimize pores and emit less oil. This allows for the face to become less oily but must be used with a moisturizer to prevent dry skin from occurring.

Other ways to help minimize oil production is with the use of changing lifestyle. Exercising may help to minimize oil production as it helps to remove and detoxifies the skin, removing all dirt and debris that may clog the pores. Eating healthy is a great and long-term approach in treating oily skin.

Having a high consumption of oily and salty foods may result in oily skin as whatever you eat, your skin reacts to. When a healthy diet is consumed, this results in less breakouts, minimizes oil production, and overall gives a healthy complexion. It is also recommended to use products and makeup that say “oil free” in which it is made to not clog pores or cause acne.

Drinking plenty of water can help as it keeps the skin hydrated from within. When the skin is not hydrated and is dry, this results in the skin needing more hydration, in which it over produces sebum, causing the skin to be oily. The skin produces more oil in order to compensate for the loss of hydration.

Here at Vanish Cosmetic Clinic,

we use different treatments to help treat and prevent oily skin. One treatment that we use is PicoSure Laser. This treatment is used for many purposes but can also be used to help control oil production. Facials are also recommended as we use high medical graded products.

Facials are important especially as they are used to maintain results, as well as hydrate, exfoliate, as well as rejuvenate the skin.  The skin is going to become less oily the more you take care of your skin and follow proper rules. It is important to make sure not to use products that contain oil as this will clog the pores and cause breakouts. This will cause acne to get worse overtime and become more difficult to remove. It is important to make sure that the skin and clean and free from any dirt and debris. When debris is in the skin, the skin becomes inflamed and traps the dirt underneath the skin. This can cause cystic acne, which is the a more difficult type of acne to remove.

Microdermabrasion can be done as well to help minimize acne by removing dead skin cells which can create acne and cause other skin concerns. Microdermabrasion is a treatment that can be done by using a machine that has a vacuum as well as uses either diamond head or crystals to help exfoliate the skin. Depending on the skin, either the specialist will use a diamond head or use crystals.

Chemical peel is another treatment that can be done to help minimize and improve oily skin. Chemical peel is a procedure in which a solution that contains acid such as glycolic or lactic acid is used onto the skin in order to promote peeling, and therefore exposing new skin. This allows the skin to remove any dead skin, and overall helps to rejuvenate and create a glowy complexion. Chemical peel should only be done once in a while as this is a strong solution and should be used cautiously.

It is best for someone who has oily skin not to use heavy products. When heavy products are used, this clogs the pores and makes the skin unable to breathe. When the cream is too heavy, it doesn’t allow the skin to breathe, causing the skin to clog and break out.
